Is that a drumstick or a cookie?

If you follow Social Grocery on Pinterest, you know that we’re all about cute — and funny — foods. This is among many other things like crafts, how-to’s, DIY projects, etc., but Pinterest is just full of the cutest foods you’ve ever seen, especially when it comes to desserts and treats. For instance, when I saw this KFC bucket full of drumstick-inspired decorated cookies, I couldn’t help but give in to my urge to post it:

If you are wondering how to create this insanely amazing and hilarious cookies, here is the post from Bake at 350. They refer to these cookies as “desserts for dudes.” Love it!

To complete this post – what, you thought that was it? – I have found two other sets of decorated cookies that are along the same “dude food” theme .. or just fantastic in general.

S’MORES from Glorious Treats

BEER & HOT DOGS from Bake at 350 (Can’t get enough!)

What is it about decorated cookies that has us captivated? Is it the humor? The skills? The realistic art? And that’s not even including the TASTE. Whatever the reason is, keep ‘em coming!

Have you ever taken a stab at decorating cookies?

It's time for gingerbread!

It”s December, and that means it”s time to take those gingerbread recipes out of the holiday cookbooks .. you know, the ones shoved in the far back corner of your bookshelf. I love gingerbread, so when wintertime is finally showing its shining face, I like to embrace the season as much as possible. Gingerbread everything, please!

GINGERBREAD HOUSES

As much as I love gingerbread, making houses can be a huge pain. While they”re a warp back to childhood, it can be frustrating all the same. However, instead of buying one of those kits this year, you should try making one from scratch. With so many templates and recipes online, you”ll be a gingerbread house making pro in no time!

GINGERBREAD MONKEY BREAD

Okay, I know what you”re thinking. “Gingerbread and monkey bread are amazing on their own, what a genius idea to add them together!” I know. I feel the same. Plus, the gingerbread men marshmallows are too cute for words. (Tablespoon.com)

CLASSIC GINGERBREAD CAKE

This cake is delicious on it”s own, or even with a nice, hearty frosting. I”m thinking cream cheese. YUM. A perfect snack to go along with some warm cider — morning, afternoon or night. (browneyedbaker.com)

Candy corn galore!

Not sure about you, but it”s basically a ritual of mine to eat as much Brach”s Autumn Mix as entirely possible during the Fall season. While this can be extremely satisfying in itself, isn”t it more fun to get creative? These three recipes are exactly the kind of fun I”m looking for this Halloween season!

CANDY CORN COOKIE BARK
Candy Corn Cookie Bark

Okay, this just looks phenomenal. I”ve always been a fan of Recipe Girl (as you may have picked up by now) and somehow this gem has escaped me until now. I will definitely be making this candy corn cookie bark in the very near future! This gives holiday peppermint bark a run for its money, in my opinion.

CANDY CORN CHEESECAKE
Candy Corn Cheesecake

So cute! I”ve definitely seen candy corn decorated cakes and cupcakes, but never something like cheesecake. What a great idea this is! This recipe calls for Candy Corn Hershey Kisses, which I never knew existed. Anyone ever tried them?  Thank you to My Baking Addiction for sharing this treat.

CANDY CORN BUTTERFINGER POPS
Candy Corn Butterfinger Pops

These are possibly the most adorable and delicious sounding pops I have seen in awhile. And no, this isn”t just a Butterfinger candy bar dipped in candy melts — it”s HOMEMADE. Dear Vanessa from Blog 5 to 9, you are my hero. “NOM NOM NOM” is right!

Fall means time for cider

Not really sure why I”m on such an apple kick lately. In addition to the post from yesterday, I have also been eating apples nonstop. Over the weekend I made chocolate dipped apples topped with coconut and crushed Reese”s pieces (yes, they are AMAZING), I sit here now typing this with a locally picked honeycrisp apple in my hand. But I need more. So I think of the apple cider in my fridge and it comes to me — time to hit the kitchen.

Typically during the Fall season we”ll enjoy a nice warm cup of apple cider and call it a day. I”ve been known to drink a cup or two alongside a cider doughnut. But this year I think I want to step it up a notch. Alas, I give you these few recipes that I cannot wait to try! But first, we have to go a traditional route (with a twist):

CIDER DOUGHNUT MUFFINS

Cider Doughnut Muffins

Cider doughnuts have taken a whole new form. This recipe from Tablespoon.com transforms the traditional cider doughnut into a muffin treat — sorry blueberries, you”ll have to wait! I can”t wait to have these for breakfast. (Or lunch. Or dinner. Or a midnight snack ..)

CARAMEL-STUFFED APPLE CIDER COOKIES

Caramel-Stuffed Apple Cider Cookies

Even just looking at these cookies make me think of lounging in front of the fireplace on a crisp Fall evening. Am I right? The cider cookie with caramel center seems like the perfect companion for a cup of hot tea. Thank you to Scrambled Henfruit for sharing this amazing treat!

APPLE BUTTER CINNAMON ROLLS W/ CIDER ICING

Apple Butter Cinnamon Rolls with Cider Icing

Cinnamon rolls just got even better — apple butter cinnamon rolls. Add cider icing for noming bliss. These rolls from Babble.com would be a perfect addition to your next Sunday brunch. As someone who loves breakfast, I feel I might be making these sooner rather than later.

APPLE CIDER CHICKEN

Apple Cider Chicken

Apple cider chicken! Who says cider has to be used only in baking? There are many recipes that use apple cider in gravies and marinades, but I found this Food Network recipe to be exceptionally interesting. Maybe it”s just the picture, but that chicken looks like its bursting with Fall flavor. A great way to use up any leftover apple cider in the fridge!

4 not-so-traditional apple recipes

It”s October have you gone apple picking yet?

This post is for all of us who have a bag full of apples sitting in the kitchen waiting to be used. I mean, you can only have so much apple pie before it starts to get boring, am I right?

Don”t get me wrong, I love a traditional home-cooked meal. Who doesn”t? But sometimes we have to step out of the box. This fall season is the perfect time for a little apple craziness! “An apple a day” just got a whole new meaning.

BACON-APPLE-JALAPENO POP ”EMS

Bacon-Apple-Jalapeno Pop ''Ems

This recipe from ErinCooks.com (originally from the Food Network”s Aarti Sequeira) are essentially jalapeno halves, filled with an apple-scallion cream cheese mixture and wrapped with bacon. Really, what”s not to love? These are perfect appetizers for entertaining, football games, or even just as a snack. A great spin off the original jalapeno popper!

BEER BATTERED APPLE RINGS

Beer Battered Apple Rings

Onion rings are so last year. Fried apple is where it”s at. Battered in beer. Topped with powdered sugar and caramel sauce for a last kick. This recipe from Foodiddy.com uses granny smith apples, but I wonder how different the taste would be with other varieties. Or even switch from a pale ale beer to a hard cider or fruit ale? The possibilities are endless!

APPLE-BASIL MOJITOS

Apple-Basil Mojitos

Tired of the same old hard cider and appletini trends? Go for something fun — like these apple-basil mojitos, for instance. Plus, these can be enjoyed in both non-alcoholic and rum-spiked forms. A real crowd-pleaser! Thank you CheekyKitchen.com for this great treat (also, those polka dot glasses are adorable).

SAUSAGE APPLE OVERNIGHT BREAKFAST CASSEROLE

Sausage Apple Overnight Breakfast Casserole

Kiss plain breakfast casseroles goodbye. This bake, loaded with egg, sausage, bread, apples and cheese is delicious served piping hot and drizzled with your favorite maple syrup (Vermont Grade A Dark Amber, anyone?). RealMomKitchen.com knows how to keep this girl happy — sweet, savory and tart all in one for my favorite meal of the day. Definitely a winner!
